Where FLOS lighting is specified

The FLOS catalogue moves between iconic decorative pieces — Arco, Taccia, Skygarden, IC Lights — and a parallel architectural division built around Compass Box, The Running Magnet 2, Find Me, Easy Kap and Belvedere. That dual identity lets architects, hospitality developers, museum curators and luxury residential principals specify a single brand from boutique entry foyer to back-of-house corridor, with photometry and warranty handled under one contract.

Sectors where FLOS regularly specifies

Below are the four sectors where our specification desk handles the largest volume of architectural and decorative lighting projects each year. Each pillar references the FLOS or FLOS Architectural product families most often quoted, plus the controls platform we typically commission.

Luxury hospitality

Five-star hotels and resort groups specify Aim suspension over staircase atria, IC Lights and String wall sconces in guest suites, and Compass Box recessed downlights through corridors. Casambi Bluetooth Mesh allows housekeeping override scenes without rewiring the suite when interiors refresh.

Museums & galleries

Triennale Milano, Pinacoteca Agnelli and several private foundations run on FLOS Architectural The Running Magnet 2 track with CRI 95 R9 ≥ 90 spotlights, complemented by low-UV Find Me wall washers. Curators tune scenes per exhibition through a DALI-2 broadcast calibrated against textile and pigment limits.

Flagship retail

Luxury boutiques pair Easy Kap recessed downlights for vertical-surface accent with discreet Soft Architecture coves to dissolve the ceiling plane. Visual merchandisers reprogram window scenes through Casambi without disturbing trading hours, supported by a four-week emergency replacement lane on driver and lamp.

Luxury residential & outdoor

Architects specifying private homes on the Côte d'Azur, Lake Como and the Hamptons combine indoor pieces — Captain Flint floor lamp, Bellhop table light, Skygarden over the dining table — with Belvedere bollards, Casting C inground luminaires and the IP65 Camp wall pack along garden circulation paths.

Recent specification stories

Confidentiality contracts prevent us from naming every site, but the four anonymised case sketches below illustrate how a FLOS specification engagement adapts the same product families to very different briefs.

Boutique hotel, Brera district

Vincent Van Duysen specified a forty-room boutique hotel above a Brera courtyard. The atrium received six tiered Aim suspensions, suites combine IC Lights wall and Bellhop bedside, and the rooftop bar runs Belvedere bollards with FLOS Architectural Find Me linear accent — all on a single Casambi network commissioned in two evenings.

Contemporary art museum, Asia

A new wing for a private collection adopted The Running Magnet 2 across the long galleries with custom CRI 95 R9 ≥ 90 spots. Conservators set per-room lux ceilings; the FLOS Architectural team trained docents on scene recall and provided spare driver inventory bonded on site for the first three years.

Department-store flagship, London

A nine-floor refresh required uniform 3000 K colour temperature across mannequin presentation, fitting rooms and food hall. Easy Kap downlights, Soft Architecture coves and Compass Box surface heads were delivered in three milestone shipments aligned with phased trading floor reopenings.

Private residence, Lake Como

An Anastassiades-led residential brief pairs IC Lights ceiling, Captain Flint floor lamp by Michael Anastassiades and Skygarden Recessed in the kitchen with Casting C uplights along the lakeside terrace stair. Two homeowner scenes — "evening" and "guests arrive" — were preset before handover.
